Jon is a consulting geologist and palaeontologist, an Adjunct Professor at Mount Royal University, Calgary and a Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Adelaide. He has more than 20 years of oil and gas related experience in both Exploration and Development Geology both internationally (Colombia, Middle East, Russia, North Sea) and in western Canada.

Jon has extensive management experience including managing the G&G New Graduates at Husky for two years, as well as managing all geology related training and all the upstream Peer Reviews. Previously he held the role of Exploration Manager at Murphy Oil Canada, where he managed a team of eight technical professionals. He has also held several Team Lead roles with Shell, and lead exploration geologist roles on several Middle Eastern exploration projects.

Jon is an enthusiastic teacher and presenter and has taught at several universities at MSc level, numerous industry courses and has led groups in the field for many years.
